Chapter 302 The Elders of the Three Dynasties
A middle-class lord, who was a high-ranking official in the Ming Dynasty, entered the cabinet, and also demoted bandits. He had a bad reputation.
Later, he returned to his hometown and built an ancestral hall for his ancestors. On the day the construction of the ancestral hall, someone secretly hung a plaque in the ancestral hall, engraved with the four characters "three dynasties" and a pair of couplets. The upper couplet is "one, three, four, five, six seven", and the lower couplet is "filial piety, loyalty, courtesy and integrity".
The middle hall master thought left and right, and never understand the meaning of the couplet. Someone pointed out to him, "The upper couplet forgot an eight-character, and the lower couplet missing a word of shame, which means 'the middle-class lord is shameless'."
