City of Dimlight

Chapter 57 Moss-eater

The whole team was marching fast, and Mott led them winding around other creatures living in the tunnel: a group of timid gray dwarfs, several foraging spider elves - it was not small, and the rock spirit did not mind that there was a barrier between them and the dead to ensure their safety.

In just four days, Mott safely took the team to the exit of the whole area. It pointed to the middle of the fork in front and looked up at Leo: "If we continue to walk for a few days, we can reach the birthplace of the dead life. We must make a choice - two of the roads can take us to our destination. But they are not very safe."

"Isn't it very safe? - Can you explain it in detail?" Leo began to use his night eyes, but the tunnel only showed a short period, and there was no difference.

Mott pointed to the middle passage: "This road will pass through a tribe of Ravens. There are many of them, more than 500. I don't think it's wise to move forward from here." His suggestion was immediately affirmed by Garlock and Bosk, and he fought against more than 500 enemies, which was likely to cause other situations or alarm the dead. But this road is said to be very close and can be completed in three days," Mott added. "You just need to find a passage in their tribe that they dug themselves."

Leo and Zac didn't say anything, waiting for Mott to introduce another way.

"There are blood moss and some moss-eating insects on the road on the left. Theoretically, they are relatively mild, but I don't think this is a good choice - the mossivore here are much more irritable than those outside." Mott said a lot, but didn't give a clear suggestion.

The Blue Mermaid Mercenary Corps quickly held a brief meeting to discuss going through that road - neither the moss worm nor the crow has ever met, and there is no way to judge the strength at all, and Mott has only heard about the front and has not seen it himself.

Mot did not leave. He was going to wait for the blue mermaid to go on the road and reminded them to add their names when telling the legend of the bard.

The discussion time is not short, but no good solution has been discussed. Leo and others used this meeting as a time for rest and dinner, which caused some people to only pay attention to food without thinking.

The team said goodbye to Mott and continued to move forward - Zucker's proposal was approved. Let's take a look at the moss-eating territory first. After all, even if we need to fight here, the number of enemies will always be less.

Garlock squatted low to pass through the low arch. After a long walk in the tunnel, they found that there was no way out. Finally, Garlock was guided by some red light to find the hidden arch behind a rock.

They found a wide cave behind the arch, and the top of the cave was unreachable. The ground and walls of the cave are covered with a thick layer of moss, and the red light is emitted by this layer of material. Leo immediately stopped in confusion, but Zach knew a little about this substance.

"Blood moss!" The human-shaped Naga rushed out and then giggled a few times. He turned his head and saw that the others had no reaction, so he explained, "Hey, this is a dangerous moss. I saw this thing decades ago. You know, it's very rare.

Leo shook his arms and shrugged his shoulders, still confused. Bosk was ready to take a step first to see the red light. He was about to move forward when Zak's right hand took his arm to stop him from moving forward.

"Blood moss." The humanoid Naga said again in an aggravated tone, "My God, Leo, didn't your members properly educate the most basic law of survival??

Bosk immediately blushed for his recklessness.

Zucker turned around and knocked on the arch with a knife handle and knocked on a small stone. He picked up the stone and threw it at the moss. The stone hit the red moss with a bang, and a cloud of red spore sprayed into the air in an instant.

"Look," Zucker explained, "inhaling those spores will choke you to death! If you want to pass by here, take your steps lightly, don't be so impulsive, brave stupid boy!"

Leo scratched the dark brown hair and thought about the dilemma. He didn't want to walk more than ten miles back to the starting point of this tunnel, let alone move forward under the red death threat. He stood up under the arch and looked around to see if there was any other way out. Several stones protrude in the moss, followed by a clean and uncovered path, about three or four feet wide, extending straight forward through the cracks in the ground.

"We can go there," he pointed to the lower road and said to Zach, "It's a clean road, and it's not far for us."

"But we haven't seen the moss-eaters yet," Zucker said, "I don't want to meet them halfway through," he explained. "Our race has poor resistance to this kind of spore, and one thing can be fatal."

"Why don't I go and have a look," a voice came, and it was Garlock, who rarely spoke: "We Caucasians have natural antibodies to this kind of moss. I'll investigate it."

This suggestion was immediately approved by Zak: "You can investigate. If there is any situation, you must come back immediately," he pointed to the outside channel: "We can't give you support, we can only wait for you outside - we can go back if we really can't!"

Garlock nodded and took the sword on his back and took it in his hand.

He suddenly jumped and fell on the first stone, causing some vibration, but fortunately it did not cause any blood moss counterattack. He took a breath and jumped again.

"How wide is this?" Bosk looked at Garlock's progress and was a little worried about himself or not being able to get through.

"Don't worry," Leo replied, "The longest distance is no more than 10 feet. I remember you can jump 11 feet!"

Bosk said "Yes" and then said, "But there was no blood moss next to me at that time - I would be nervous!"

Zucker laughed and patted Bosk on the shoulder: "Nervousness will make you play better. - Maybe you can jump 13 feet!"

Garlock quickly jumped off the stone and landed in the middle of the passage. The road connects the two ends, and the cracks below are steaming.

He turned around and pointed to both sides, hoping that Leo would tell him a clear direction, left or right.

Leo hesitated for a moment. He made a clear gesture and told the giant to go to the left first.

Garlock took a few steps to the left, and then stopped to stare ahead. He squatted down and put his left hand on the ground, feeling the weak vibration.

This situation only lasted for one second, and the giant suddenly stood up and sprinted all out.

"It happened..." Zucker shouted nervously, but immediately swallowed the back half by himself.

At the same time, there was an earth-shaking roar from the direction he had just stared at, as if the whole cave had burst. The violent vibration came, and the spores in the distance had begun to eject red gas around.

"Exit, exit!" Leo suddenly shouted and took the lead in drilling out of the arch, leaving more space for Garlock.

When the moss-eating worm appeared in front of everyone, everyone had a deep understanding of the words of rock essence: it was gray and far more than its close relatives a few feet long outside. It was full of small feet on both sides of its huge body and struggled to support the giant insect to run forward.

What Mott said is not bad. It has no sharp teeth and fangs, and no long claws to attack. However, at this moment, the giant insect is rushing to Garlock angrily. Its only idea is to flatten the guy who dares to offend his territory and drag it to the cave to taste it slowly.

The ground shook violently and almost shook our giant away from this safe area a few feet wide, fell into the blood moss and was choked to death by the red spore cloud. Fortunately, the entrance of the passage was close in front of him. He ran forward, then strode on the stone and jumped out of the arch, and rolled a few rolls on the ground to reduce the cushioning force. Nevertheless, he bounced heavily on the rock in front of the door. The mossy insects chasing behind couldn't help hitting the hole. The impact was so strong that the wall of the cave shook, and the dust around it fell one after another.

After the dust finally settled, the moss-eating insects still lingered at the mouth of the cave, making a deep roar and hitting the wall of the cave with their heads from time to time. Just around it, a cloud of spores rose and began to overflow from the arch.

Leo and Bosk picked up Garlock and began to retreat, while Zach had already hid far away. Come here first," he shouted, "we dangling around in its sight, which will only make it more angry - come and see Garlock first and find a way!"

Garlock has begun to cough loudly - he inhaled some spores in the process of escape. Fortunately, as he said, the Caucasians have natural antibodies, and everything is not a big problem.

After staying away from the arch, they put the giant down and prepared to think about the next plan.
