Although Lin Hong has no problem with the three-body standing only for three years, he is still a child after all. To some extent, he still has the nature of a child who is interested in new things. Finally, he can learn the practical practice. He is still very happy.
So in the following days, in addition to continuing to stand in three-style, he had other activities and had to spare two more hours to play tricks.
As a ham, Lin Hong has never participated in a related competition, which has to be said to be a pity. So he decided to participate in this year's CQWW_DX competition, on the one hand, to add some fun to the relatively boring life, and on the other hand, to test his current technical level.
Through the last call with OH3LUS, Lin Hong also had some feelings in his heart. If he wants to make continuous progress, he must learn to embrace change and take the initiative to touch some new things. He can't ignore or even reject it because you are not interested in it for the time being.
Since that time, Lin Hong has contacted OH3LUS several times and learned more about some details of the CQWW_DX competition. Because the other party has participated in many such competitions, he has been very experienced and has given Lin Hong a lot of help and advice.
The CQWW_DX competition is divided into three modes. Considering his own equipment and environmental factors, Lin Hong decided to participate in the single-player competition in CW mode. CW mode is also an isometric telegraph, which uses the electric key to receive and send the signal of the Morse code.
Morse code is a kind of signal code that is intermittent, which expresses different English letters, numbers and punctuation marks through different arrangement orders. It was invented by the American Alfield #Ville and eventually became a common standard for radios around the world.
For example, the letter U means "Didi Da" with the electric key code, and the greeting is "Didi Da Didi".
The main reason for choosing CW mode to participate in the competition is that the CW pulse signal has relatively low requirements for equipment. Usually, the power required is only one-tenth of that of SSB mode (voice mode), and the signal propagation is wide and not easily disturbed.
Afterdecided to participate in the competition, Lin Hong began to prepare for the competition.
These days, he has been consciously training his Morse shorthand and sending ability.
Before that, although he had a good speed at receiving and sending Morse codes with his super memory, he still felt a little awkward.
His previous practice was to establish a corresponding table in his mind, such as which letter represents a few drops and a few bits, which are clearly remembered in his mind. In this way, if he wants to send the letter "A", he will first search for the code "tick" corresponding to A in his mind, and then send this short and long signal through the electric key. The same is true of the receiving signal. Every time you hear the "tick" sound, you first need to search for the corresponding letters in your mind, and then record them on the manuscript paper.
In fact, this kind of efficiency is relatively low, and it can be competent at a slow speed, but once the speed is raised, he will feel a little difficult. Usually, there is no problem for him to connect like this, but through OH3LUS, he learned that at the time of the game, tens of thousands of hams around the world will send signals at the same time. If you want to get better points and rankings, it must be slow.
Lin Hong also asked about the specific training method of OH3LUS, and the other party told him a more popular training method in the world, "KOCH training method", which was released by an American with the call sign N1IRZ. In fact, it is relatively simple, and the principle is from simple to complex.
At the beginning, start the training with two letters. It is best to have a computer that can randomly broadcast the code signal of the combination of two letters, and then listen to it and quickly record what you hear. Repeat the training continuously until the accuracy rate reaches more than 90%. Then gradually increase the number of letters, three, four... or even a dozen.
The broadcast speed must be carried out at full speed at the beginning, not from slow to fast. The purpose of this is not to allow you to set up such a corresponding table in your mind. You should completely transform the code signal into your own instinct, just like you usually say what you think, instead of thinking of thinking of a meaning first, and then converting it into a suitable language, and then saying it out.
This is one of the benefits of computer assistance.
Lin Hong naturally did not have such conditions, but he thought of a way to let OH3LUS randomly send a two-letter signal with the computer, and then he recorded the audio he received with a Walkman. For this, he also wasted Sun Wu's "Little Tigers" popular song tape.
Sun Wu didn't know about this at the beginning. The day after Lin Hong just recorded it, he took the tape to school and lent the Walkman to a MM to listen to the song, because the MM was a loyal fan of the Little Tigers, but what he heard in the headphones was a strange sound of "drip"... Sun Hu's face It's all green. I don't know that this sound is the things that Lin Hong often enjoy at night.
In addition to training the speed of Morse code, Lin Hong usually began to prepare some hardware things, such as collecting materials to make antennas for the competition, making some log recording forms for the competition, etc.
CQWW_DX's CW competition time is the last weekend of November every year. It is only the beginning of November, and there are about 20 days left. Lin Hong has enough time to prepare.
CQWW_DX competition is a worldwide event, which attracts countless hams to participate in it every year. If you can get a better place in this event, it proves that your skills are quite awesome. Speaking in the ham circle naturally has a lot of weight, and you will be attracted by countless peers. Admiration and worship.
While Lin Hong was preparing in an orderly manner, many hams in other parts of China were also actively preparing for this competition. Recently, Lin Hong has often heard people talking about this on the radio, and many people are calling for friends, anxious friends who usually think they have good skills to prepare for this event.
Day by day, the opening date of the CQWW_DX competition is getting closer and closer.
In a small courtyard in the eastern suburbs of Dongling City, four young people about 17 or 18 years old are sitting around and discussing, visiting several white drawings on the small wooden table in front of them.
If Lin Hong is here, he will find at a glance that one of them is a drawing of an Yagi antenna, and the other is an inverted V-shaped antenna.
These young people are all the main members of the Dongling Radio Club, and what they are discussing at this moment is about participating in this CQWW_DX competition.
In a compound in Beijing thousands of miles away, there are also several young people actively preparing for this matter.
