About Dongxue Teaching
Some friends have raised a lot of questions about the description of Dongxuejiao in Burning Qing. Let me explain.
Dongxue is a non-governmental organization in North Korea. This sect believes that it is different, anti-Confucian, anti-Buddha, anti-Taoist and anti-Christian, but its doctrine absorbs the original folk beliefs of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. Dongxue religion was originally an extremely ignorant religious organization, but in closed North Korea, due to the extreme poverty of the people and extreme disappointment with the authorities, Dongxue religion has become popular among the lower-class civilians in North Korea, and the believers are extremely widespread. In this way, Dongxue religion has become an important force in influencing the politics of the imperial court.
China's modern history is inseparable from North Korea, while North Korea's modern history is inseparable from Eastern learning. In the 30 years from the 1870s until the defeat of the Qing Dynasty in the First Sino-Japanese War, Japan and Western powers reacted strongly to the clan relationship between the Qing Dynasty and North Korea. The international and domestic politics of the Qing Dynasty were greatly restricted by North Korea. Because Eastern learning is against it. In order to infiltrate North Korea and promote North Korea to break away from the clan relationship of the Qing Dynasty, Japan and Russia tried every means to have a relationship with Dongxue religion; while the Qing Dynasty, in order to maintain the clan relationship with North Korea, it stood on the side of the North Korean authorities and took a hostile attitude towards Dongxue religion. However, Dongxue teaches anti-Japanese and anti-Russian. All kinds of relationships are complicated. But no matter what, the rise and fall of Dongxuejiao has always influenced the political situation in North Korea. In just 20 years, Dongxuejiao launched several large-scale uprisings, and each uprising will cause political antagonism between China, Russia and Japan. The 1894 Dongxue Uprising was the main cause of the First Sino-Japanese War. The Qing Dynasty's attitude towards Dongxue Education gradually developed from repression to sympathy and even support. The leader of Dongxue was killed, but in fact, the Qing Dynasty sent troops to do it. After the Japanese occupied Korea, Dongxuejiao launched another uprising, and the attitude of the Qing Dynasty changed. Therefore, in the relations between China, North Korea, Japan and even Russia in modern times, Dongxue has always been an unavoidable problem.
There have been different opinions on the historical evaluation of Eastern Studies. But one thing is clear that Eastern learning is unavoidable in the modern history of East Asia.
Based on this historical understanding, Burning Qing has given Dongxue a large space. I hope you can understand.
