Chapter 23 Ascetic Monk
In the history of Tibet, the most famous ascetic monk is Mirariba. It is said that his secret method was learned by his master from an Indian Buddhist monk. Mirariba studied hard and often meditate alone, and sometimes practiced hard for several years in deep caves. This story comes from this ascetic monk:
When Mirariba was 7 years old, his father unfortunately died. Before he died, he was afraid that his mother and son could not take care of housework and business, so he entrusted his uncle and aunt to help take care of him. Mirariba's young and beautiful mother was only 24 years old at that time, but she was looked up by her uncle and forced her to marry her son, but she was strongly opposed by Mira's mother. In anger, the uncle occupied their land and all their family property, and abused their mother and son, let them eat food for pigs and dogs, do the work of cattle and horses, wear tattered clothes, use thatched ropes as belts, and work all day long. Mirariba lived an extremely poor and hard life with her mother and sister.
When Mirariba was 15 years old, his mother wanted to marry him and asked his uncle and aunt for their property again. Instead of giving them property, the uncle beat up their mother and son. As a result, the hatred between the two families is also increasing day by day.
One day, Mira went out to drink and sang while walking on the way home. Her mother, who was stir-frying barley at home, said sadly when she heard it, "Your father, Mira Xiejia gave birth to such a stubborn son as you, is going to die!" Look at the miserable fate of our family, so poor, you have the intention to sing!" After saying that, he fainted. At this time, Mira's sister also said angrily, "Brother, what do you think? Look at your mother!" The brother and sister hugged their mother and cried. My mother slowly woke up from a coma. At this time, Mirariba suddenly felt that she had grown up, and the burden of the whole family's life was on her. Mila said to her mother, "Please don't be too sad!" What do you want? I will do it as ordered.
The mother who was occupied by hatred said to Mira, "I wish you had put on a satin-stitched cloak, ride a tall horse, and step over the necks of the enemies we hate, and all this is now desperate for me. The means of the wicked will be more cunning. Therefore, I just want you to learn spells and kill all the neighbors who show off our mother and son, led by uncles and aunts, with the spells of hailing and victory, and make them extinct! You can try it. Can you do it? Now it's time to find a mage who is proficient in spells and learn to curse from him to avenge your father.
This is Mirariba's only mother's request for her son. Mira, who was filial, said to her mother, "Well, I decided to follow my mother's instructions." In this way, Mira's mother prepared some belongings for him and asked him to visit his teacher to study and learn spells and spells that really work. At the time of parting, the mother burst into tears and told her son again that if she couldn't learn the real magic spell, she would die in front of her son. From then on, Mirariba, who was full of hatred and sadness, embarked on the difficult road of learning. He toss and turns on the wasteland and inquires about who knows the spell?
In the late Northern Song Dynasty, Tibet was fragmented, and the big and small regimes were in different ways. Buddhism has been in a trough period since the destruction of Buddha by King Lang Dama of Tubo, and the traditional Bon witchcraft has been widely spread among the people. For Tibetans with relatively backward productivity, what a glorious thing it will be to learn the mana of calling for wind and rain, driving hail and dropping hail!
Mira heard that a magician named Yongzhong Zhuojia had a big spell in the Yalong area of Shannan, so she went to learn the method. One day, Mira finally found the magic magician: "I came here from Loza with only a little gift money to study. Please teach me spells and spells."
So, Mirariba followed the teacher Ben to learn spells for a year. In fact, the spell taught by the magician to Mirariba is only a small part. After the expiration of one year, he returned to their respective hometowns with the other four monks he came to study. And Mira still remembers her mother's instructions in her heart - "If you learn spells that don't work, I will die in front of you."
He returned to the magician's side again, and the magician asked him, "Why don't you leave?" I have a firm promise that I will never leave if I don't really learn spells!"
The magician had no choice but to give the disciple some silver and a letter to introduce him to a more powerful magician, Lajeel Luqiong.
The magician Laje Luqiong asked Mira to practice in isolation and asked him if he could do it? The power of hatred and his mother's teachings lingered in his ears from time to time. It can be done!" Mirariba replied firmly. In this way, Mirariba built a thatched hut by himself and began to learn real and useful spells and spells.
It is said that after half a year, Mira's spell gradually appeared. At this time, Mirariba's uncle was going to hold a wedding for his son. At the family's wedding banquet, the house suddenly collapsed, killing 35 people, only Mira's uncle and aunt. It is said that this is what Mira killed with the spell he learned.
Mira also learned a lot of changing spells from the magician Lu Qiong. After saying goodbye to Lu Qiong's magician, Mira returned to Yongzhong Zhuojia's magician and learned a hail-reducing spell in the earth cave of the watchtower. After learning, he hailed and destroyed the crops of his uncles and aunts and villagers who had bullied them.
At this point, Mirariba finally completed the revenge plan with the spell spell he learned. However, after the revenge, Mirariba did not feel any joy, followed by uneasiness and emptiness, regret and self-reproach, and painful repentance. How can I eliminate my crime? On the day after Mira's revenge, he was determined to change his mind and convert to Buddhism.
Mirariba, who is confused, seems to believe that only Buddhism can eliminate his deep sin. For this reason, he first took Zhedon Laka as his teacher and studied the "Great Perfection" method of Kaju School, but he did not become a master after practice. Therefore, Master Laga suggested that he go to Lozabai Marba as his teacher. When Mirariba heard the name "Marba", he felt infinite joy in an instant. So when he was 38 years old, he took Marpa as his teacher and began his own way of learning.
At first, Marpa did not teach Milarepa any Dharma, but asked him to build a watchtower on the surrounding mountains or do all kinds of hard work. One day, Master Marpa asked Mira to build a watchtower. When the watchtower was about to be repaired, Marba said: I was unthinkable that day. I demolished the watchtower. The earth was transported back to its original place wherever it came from, and the stone was still moved back to its original place. In this way, Mira repaired it three times, and the master asked him to tear it down three times.
Mira's back was worn out by carrying stones. The master said distressedly to Marba, "Why do you let Mira repair these meaningless houses and torture people? Wouldn't it be good for you to show mercy and teach Mila a little Dharma? However, Marba completely ignored these.
One day, Marpa said to Mira, "Now, you build a square watchtower here, nine gray floors, with ten floors on the roof. After cultivation, it will never be dismantled, and the practice method of the Kaju School will be passed on to you, and at the same time, it will also provide you with rations during your practice.
However, when Mira finished repairing the tenth floor of the watchtower, Marpa said, "We also need to build a corridor, and I will teach you the Dharma after the corridor is built."
Mira couldn't help but feel very painful. But Marba said, "My lord Naroba has experienced twelve major asceticisms and twelve small ascetic acts in his body. There are 24 kinds of asceticisms, which are much more powerful than your asceticism. I didn't care about my life and money to worship Na Ruoba as a teacher. Therefore, if you want to ask for the law, you can't complain about suffering and torture. You'd better repair the unfinished house!"
A few years later, Mirariba finally completed the construction of the watchtower. But Marpa still did not teach Mira any Buddhism. After enduring for many years, Mirariba finally couldn't stand the torture of Marpa. He said goodbye to his mother and went to other Tibetans alone to find a new master.
On the way, Mira met Master Obah, who was talking about the second product of King Kong Continuation. Master Russia and Pakistan agreed to teach him Buddhism, but in order to test Mira, he still offered to let him hail once.
At this time, Mira was puzzled. He asked himself: Am I here to hail? Or do you want to seek Buddhism? In the end, Mira hailed and killed many creatures and destroyed many crops.
Master Obah said to Mira, "I can resurrect all sentient beings killed by hail." In an instant, the dead birds and beasts came to life. At this time, Mirariba finally understood the truth of sexual emptiness. Subsequently, the master of Russia and Pakistan taught Mira the emeritus of Mandala for the first time.
A year later, Mira returned to her master Marba again. At this time, the teacher said to him earnestly, "I know you will come back. It's not that I don't teach you the Dharma. I know that you are a predestined disciple. Just because you have done too much evil, I first let you do asceticism to eliminate karma. The purpose is to purify your body and mind."
Since then, Master Malpa has officially taught the Milarepa Dharma. Marba asked his disciples to retreat in the cave and mediate. In this way, Mirariba studied with Master Marpa for seven years.
In 1084, Mirariba was 45 years old. This summer, Mirariba, who had been away from her mother and sister for more than ten years, went home to visit her mother. Entering the house, I saw a pile of dead bones in the corner of the house, and my mother had been dead for 8 years. My sister didn't know where she was, and her fiancee disappeared.
The impermanence and illusory of birth, old age, illness and death make Mirariba have a strong noxic. He went to Tibet, lived in seclusion in deep caves, and began his life ascetic career.
In the cave, Mirariba was dressed in white clothes and made a living by eating hemp. He was as thin as firewood, and his whole body turned green. People thought they had seen a ghost when they saw him. But all this did not change his determination to do asceticism. According to the Biography of Mirariba, Mirariba practiced in the cave for 9 years and finally proved the best.
After his academic achievements, Mirariba walked out of the cave and preached the scriptures everywhere. In order to make more people understand the Dharma, Mirariba uses vivid folk poetry to express the profound Buddha's principles to promote the Dharma, so that the majority of believers can understand the Buddha's teachings in a simple way.
Although Mirariba lives in seclusion in the deep mountains, he has many disciples and many great achievers. In particular, his disciple Dabo Raji later founded Dabo Kaju. After the rapid development of the school, the so-called four branches and eight small branches of the independent portal were separated from it. Therefore, Dabo Kaju actually covers the whole Kaju school, and the famous big seal secret method is the unique learning of the Kaju school.
