Chapter 8 Coming from the Wave
"Today's two update, please recommend and collect!"
The storm that lasted for several days finally subsided, and the sky was again covered with a blue shawl dotted with white silk. Seabirds fly over Aimblo, spreading the breath of joy.
"Do you make a living like this?" Lu Yuewu saw the deal between Leo and Oliver. When she left, she said worriedly, "I don't know how you lived before. But this is undoubtedly a drop in the bucket for us.
"Hmm." Of course, Leo knows the embarrassing situation at present. We will starve to death."
He held the dry purse in his hand and clearly realized that making ordinary drugs with scarce magic* is really the least cost-effective means. But other than that, he can make very few choices.
Should we persuade Lu Yuewu to leave? Leo can't make up his mind. If she gives up the previous agreement, he probably won't blame the other party. Leo couldn't help thinking so. Anyway, he doesn't have anything worth peeping on.
He looked at the girl. The girl walked with him on the busy street without saying a word. Her face was still calm, and she could not see any imminent tension. Her peace infected Leo and added some confidence to him.
"There is one more choice." Li Ou suddenly said, "But it's not a long-term way."
"You have made a decision." Lu Yuewu's intuition was beyond Leo's imagination, "I'm your guard." She said, "The duty of the guard is only to protect your safety. For the rest, please make your own mind.
There was nothing wrong with her words, but an unavoidable sense of powerlessness swept over Leo. He doesn't even have a trusted partner to negotiate with. He can only return a wry smile for this. He shook his head and left the meaningless emotion behind him. Let's go back." He said, "This matter depends on opportunity and full self-knowledge."
"Where to go?" The girl stopped in front of the intersection.
Go straight is the latest choice, but the crowd is daunting; to the left is the sword shield area where the nobles live; and to the right... "Let's take a detour from the port." Li Ou made a decision, "Maybe we can meet some small business."
Like the greedy and cheap words of small citizens, Lu Yuewu may be particularly surprised, and there may be some complaints in his heart. But Leo didn't care. The huge incontinguige between ideal and reality makes him a little breathless. He had to choose to go back to his old career.
Ainblo has several high-quality seaports. Most of them are opened manually. Here, the "human victory" rhetoric touted by sociologists has been sufficiently supported by theory. However, in the face of the storm that has just passed, this is like a joke. The port seems to have been ploughed once. Low-lying places are full of gravel and filth; broken boards, torn sails, ropes... with the waves constantly hitting the seawall; ships are tilted like paper boats soaked in water, and the masts are broken and seem to sink at any time. The captain and sailors who passed by Leo and Lu Yuewu looked decadent and desperate.
They bypassed the pug on the ground and avoided the obstacles composed of carriages and crates and debris all the way.
Lu Yuewu saw Li Ou's frown.
"What's the problem?" She asked.
The commercial activities here in this port are almost stagnant - presumably the same is true for other ports. The small business that Leo fantasized about was undoubtedly ruined.
"This year's storm season is far from over." Leo said headlessly. What he is worried about is not what he gets today, but the problems that come after the storm: shortage of materials and backlog of goods. For him, this is a devastating blow, which will undoubtedly add insult to injury.
What are you doing? Get out of here! Far away from me! You barbarians!"
The shouts mixed with panic and anger broke the dead water-like silence of the port. The seabirds parked on the broken mast fluttered their wings and flew away, while the soulless sailors surrounded them.
Li Ou also couldn't control his curiosity.
"Let's go and have a look."
The girl doesn't say anything.
The quarrel is getting worse and worse. But the loudest shouting is always from the original guy. Instead, the object of his abuse remained silent from beginning to end. But Leo thought that their anger might burst out soon.
Sure enough, when Li Ou's sight was still blocked by the heads of the sailors, he heard a scream in the center of the crowd, and then the muffled sound of fists to the flesh sounded one after another, and the screams were endless and creepy. The crowd in front of them made a terrible noise and rushed back. It seems that these sailors are facing the siren that suddenly appeared in the port.
Lu Yuewu has clenched his sword and put on a fighting posture. Li Ou waved his hand to her, indicating that she didn't have to do so. There is a guardhouse not far from here, and even the smugglers who colluded with it don't have the courage to see blood here in broad daylight.
As the sailors dispersed away, the scene in front of him surprised Leo.
A dozen strong sailors were blue and swollen, rolling and moaning on the ground. And next to them, there are dozens of aliens. They are all wearing thin sleeveless leather coats with open skirts. The muscles in the chest are as high and bulging as the strong biceps of their arms, as hard as iron. The gray-brown skin was covered with colorful totems, extending to their necks, and perhaps the faces covered with cold metal masks were also full of lines. They carry all kinds of frightening heavy weapons. Double-edged giant axe, steel hammer, huge sword, and iron mace full of spikes.
"Who are they?" Lu Yuewu rarely asked.
"I have never seen an alien dressed like this in Ainblo." Leo frowned and replied. They just stood, and Li Ou could feel a murderous and wild atmosphere coming to his face. Did you see the boat behind them? Li Ou whispered to the girl. The large ship is now full of holes, and the tilt angle is frightening. However, the oil paint on the ship is still clearly visible after the wind and rain.
"It's the same as the pattern on their bodies." The girl said.
"That should be their totem." Leo briefly explained a few words, "Some alien tribes still follow ancient traditions. For them, the totem is the god they believe in.
The group of aliens soon noticed them. Li Ou saw clearly: the alien wearing a golden mask said something to the people around him, and then the alien with a double-edged axe and a cyan pattern painted on the mask came towards them.
"Hello, master of the alchemy capital." This alien unexpectedly has an aristocratic and elegant posture, which makes it difficult for Leo to associate his movements with his rugged appearance.
"Hello, foreign guests." Li Ou hurriedly replied, "What can I do for you?"
"You can see, we encountered a storm, the ship was destroyed, and we can no longer return to our hometown."
Liou nodded, "This year's storm is earlier than in previous years."
"We are also well aware of this. This is a disaster." However, the other party obviously doesn't want to beat around the bush. He quickly said his true intention. We have to settle down here and find a place to live. You have also seen that we are not welcome.
Li Ou can't refute it. He closed his mouth and listened patiently.
"Excuse me, can you help us settle down?" The alien said sincerely, "Neanders will repay their kindness. The wary Neanderians will become your private soldiers and guards.
"I can't make the decision. I don't have the ability either." Leo smiled bitterly. He took a peek at Lu Yuewu. He can't even afford a guard, not to mention the group of aliens in front of him who know they are big eaters at a glance.
"That..."
Li Ou looked at this group of strong soldiers of more than 50 people, which is really a group of strong fighting power. He doesn't want to offend each other for a little thing. Since you are willing to be loyal to me, you can also sell your loyalty to the lord of the city. Li Ou finally decided, "Compared with the penniless me, the lord of the city must have given you better treatment."
