Liaozhai Ghost Story

Chapter 4 Spraying Water

Uncle Song Yu, from Laiyang, lives as an official in Beijing. He lives in poverty, rents a house and lives in the same residential yard with his mother. The house is dilapidated and the location is remote and desolate.

This night, two maids served the old lady to sleep peacefully. Suddenly, they heard a thud in the yard, and the sound was like a kettle spraying water.

Song's mother was surprised and ordered her maidservant to have a look. A maidess quietly walked to the window, poked the window paper and looked at it. She saw an old woman in the yard, with a short hunchback and long snow-white hair, just like a broom.

The old lady put a bun about two feet on her head and walked around the courtyard. Step by step, she walked like a crane. While walking, I sprayed water endlessly.

The maidservant was stunned and told the old lady truthfully. Song's mother also felt strange. With the help of the two maids, she came to the window to stare. At first sight, she opened her eyes wide and could no longer close them.

At this moment, the old woman moved like the wind. She rushed out of the window between several ups and downs. Her mouth and a water arrow spewed out, shot through the window paper, and the poisonous water splashed, all on the three women.

The three of them were caught off guard and immediately lost consciousness and fainted to the ground.

The next morning, Uncle Song Yu went to his mother's residence to say good. He knocked on the door several times and no one agreed. He was afraid and hurriedly commanded the servant to pry open the door and walk into the room. Song's mother and the two maids were pale and had been dead for a long time.

The tentative hand stroked the three people. Their bodies were cold, and a maid still had body temperature on her chest. She hurriedly woke up with water for emergency treatment. After a while, the maid opened her eyes and explained the matter one by one.

Uncle Song Yu heard the reason, and he was inexplicably sad and indignant. The order said, "Give me a carpet search in the yard. Even if you dig three feet of the ground, you have to find the culprit."

All the families agreed in unison, waved a shovel and shoveled the soil, and really turned the land in the yard upside down. This excavation really found. In the corner of the yard, a lot of white hair was dug out and continued to dig. Slowly, a female corpse appeared, with a swollen face, exactly the same as the maid's description.

Uncle Song Yu was furious and ordered his men to hit the female corpse with a spade. Only once, the bones and flesh were rotten, and the belly was full of clear water.
