Liaozhai Ghost Story

Chapter 199 The Dog

A man in Lu'an Prefecture, his father was framed and imprisoned, and is about to be executed. The man searched for his savings and got a hundred taels of silver. He was ready to go to the county to find someone to plead for his father. Riding a mule out, the black dog in the house followed. A certain population scolded, drove away the black dog, and then went forward. The black dog chased after him. No matter how he expelled, he refused to leave.

Along the way for dozens of miles, someone went to the ground, bent down to pick up the stone, and threw the black dog. Then the black dog left. Someone continued on the road, and the black dog went back, opened his mouth and bit the mule's tail and refused to relax. Someone was furious and hit the black dog with a whip. The black dog barked wildly. Suddenly, he rushed forward and bit the mule's head, as if trying to stop him from going.

Someone thought it was ominous and became more and more angry. He turned around to chase the black dog and chased him far away. Seeing that the black dog did not know the whereabouts, he immediately rode and ran wildly. At dusk, someone arrived at the county and touched his pocket, but not half of the hundred taels of silver. The sweat swelled down, lost my soul, and turned all night. Only then did I understand that there was a reason why the dog barked.

The next day, at dawn, someone went out of the city to turn back and looked for the lost silver all the way. He thought, "This place is an important traffic road between the north and the south. There are as many pedestrians as ants. Since the money has been lost, how can it be recovered?" He wandered around and unconsciously returned to the last small solution. He found that the black dog died in the grass, and the dog's hair was soaked with sweat. He picked up the dog's ears and saw that under the black dog's body was covered with fifty taels of silver, which was what he had lost. Thinking that the black dog was killed by the scorching sun in order to guard for himself, he couldn't help but be grateful. He bought a coffin and buried the black dog.

In order to commemorate the black dog, the people specially buried it and named it "Yi Dog Tomb".
