Chapter 16 Marquis's Remorse

"Grandpa, isn't it a little like falling into the well to dissolve the marriage contract now?" Annie asked in the carriage.

"My stupid granddaughter, Archbishop Sloc, hinted at the party that it was the best time to terminate the marriage, and yesterday Pastor Allen also vaguely told me that he supported you to choose your fiance." The Marquis of Violet said, "Since Arcado's uncle has said so, it is natural for us to do so."

"But grandpa." Annie is still a little sorry: "Do you need to be in such a hurry? You just got the news yesterday and took me there today, which is also..."

"You should know that opportunities don't wait for people. Last night, Archbishop Slock sent people to tell me that he would be promoted to several nobles recently, hoping that I could go further and serve the empire. What does this mean? This is urging me to do it." The Marquis Violet said gloatingly, "To blame that boy for offending the archbishop for a witch. I just follow orders."

Although Anne is not willing to marry Arcado, she is not happy at this moment, because Grandpa finally regarded her as a tradable item. When he sold it to Arcado, he did not listen to her opinion. Now he sold it to Sloc and still did not listen to her opinion.

"Even so, you don't have to borrow so many guards." Annie finally said.

"You are still watching. Grandpa will terminate your marriage contract. Don't talk for a while, or don't blame Grandpa for turning against you." The Marquis Violet was a little tired of Anne's nagging and ended the conversation.

"Your excellency, the front is the Southern District." The captain of the guard flattered the marquis in the carriage.

"Well, find this house according to this address." The marquis said, handed a note to the captain of the guard, and then the convoy continued to move forward.

A few beggars occasionally avoided the coming carriage beside the streets of the South District in the early morning. They looked in horror at the noble carved carriages, as well as the four tall horses in front of them, and the guards with swords on both sides. The quiet morning was broken by the noise.

Under the leadership of the guards, the Marquis of Violet and Anne came to Arcado's residence, stood outside Arcado's door, and looked at the painted gate covered with thin iron sheets covered with rust. Anne's heart twitched.

There is a faint sound of cooking breakfast, proving that there is someone in the room.

"Sum." The soldier smashed the iron gate and shouted, "Open the door, open the door."

"It's coming, it's coming." A beautiful young man's voice came from the door. It was Arcado, who was cutting the only half of the black bread at home on the table.

A small gap opened in the door. Arcado looked at several strange soldiers with armor and asked puzzledly, "What's the matter?"

"Bang." A soldier kicked the door open, and several soldiers rushed into the house at the same time, surrounding Arcado who fell to the ground. Then, the Violet Marquis and Anne, who Arcado was familiar with, came in, followed by several soldiers. There is a sword on his waist, which is fierce and evil.

"Do you still remember me, Arcado?" The Marquis of Violet asked with a smile.

"How did you get here? Mr. Marquis. Arcado struggled to get up on the ground, looked at the soldiers around him uneasily, and asked.

"Oh, kid, where's your drunk father?" The Marquis Violet did not answer his question and then asked.

Acardo's eyes flashed a trace of fierceness, frowned and answered him, "My father died the night before yesterday and committed suicide in this room."

Anne covered her mouth and screamed. The soldiers also took half a step back and looked warily at the indifferent boy in the middle.

"That's really unfortunate, kid." The Marquis Violet said without a sad expression: "Then I have to talk to you, the person."

"I don't know what you want to talk to me about?" Arcado asked.

The Marquis looked around and continued, "I want to contact the marriage contract between you and Anne and come to sign an agreement with you to prove that you voluntarily gave up your engagement with our Anne and your pursuit of Anne."

"When I just lost my father, did you come to the pit?" The angry Arcado stared at the Marquis of Violet, which made the Marquis feel guilty.

"I don't know that you just lost your father. This visit has already been decided. Sign it quickly, so as not to be unhappy." The marquis avoided Arcado's eyes and continued.

"Fuck your agreement, damn it, I won't sign any damn agreement. I want people all over the continent to see the ugly faces of your violet family!" Arcado jumped up and rushed to the marquis, and then was caught by the soldiers and pressed to the ground, but he still said unrelent and cursed.

Anne beside her was so scared that she stepped back a few steps. Akado's words pierced her heart like a sharp sword. Although she didn't want to be Akado's wife, she did not hate Akado. Seeing that Akado was so tragically pressed in front of her now, she was not comfortable.

The old marquis's face is getting worse and worse. For the first time in so many years, his scars have been uncovered in person. His purple face is now matched with his purple embroidered coat.

"Send it to me until this little beast is willing to sign! How dare he scold me and beat me hard!" Several soldiers had been kicked and beaten by Arcado, but now the head ordered that the opportunity to revenge came, and they raised their fists and beat them severely.

"You old man, you are an old and disrespectful bastard, ah, ah, sooner or later you will be punished! Ah!" Acado, who was punched and kicked, still asked for mercy and continued to curse.

"This little bastard, I don't believe your mouth is harder than the soles of your boots. Then hit me!" The marquis said breathlessly, as if it were him who hit the man.

At the beginning, Arcado was still scolding. Later, his voice gradually became lower and smaller, and gradually became a humming voice. He was kicked around like a corpse full of blood.

"Enough!" Annie shouted. Several soldiers stopped and looked at the marquis' granddaughter. Anne stepped forward, wiped Arcado's face with a clean handkerchief, and asked in a low voice, "Acado, are you still alive?"

Suddenly, Arcado reached out and grabbed Anne's wrist, and the blood on his palm rubbed against Anne's white wrist, which was particularly dazzling. Arcado opened his mouth, spit out his mouth full of blood, gasped, and said vaguely, "Annie, you know, I don't love you now." Then he fell down heavily.

The Marquis of Violet waved his hand. First, the two guards came forward, helped Anne up and took the crying Anne out of the house. Then the captain of the soldier took a contract handed over by the Marquis Violet, grabbed Arcado's right hand, stained the blood, and pressed it at the signature. Arcado subconsciously struggled for a moment, but failed. Then the captain of the soldier walked back to the marquis and handed over the contract to the marquis. The marquis looked at it, threw a bag of gold coins to the captain with satisfaction, turned around, and the moment the marquis walked out of the room, Arcado shouted loudly, "Don't bully the young man!" The marquis paused and did not look back. The guards also walked out of the room one by one. Finally, the room was empty, leaving only Arcado's thin body in a pool of blood.
