Chapter 3 The Book of Gold
After nightfall, the snow gradually decreased, but the wind was still so strong. Huaiyang City is gone without the hustle and bustle of the past, as if it fell into a deep sleep in advance.
The snow on the ground is very thick, and your feet "squeak" on it, and you will slip if you are not careful.
Chu Tian tried to straighten his body and walked in the snow, and his eyes had been paying close attention to the movement around him. He has developed such a habit of being alert, always arming himself like a hedgehog, and at the same time having a keen sense of smell like a wolf. Although the bustling city is beautiful, it is not for everyone.
The helpless outsiders like Chu Tian and Qinger are always bullied and ridiculed the most.
But things will change dramatically from now on. Chu Tian thought so and touched the silver in his arms.
With silver, there is dignity and status. The more money, the more dignity, and the higher the status.
This is the first lesson of the law of urban survival learned by Chu Tian.
Suddenly he stopped. Under the low brick wall at the entrance of the alley in front of him, there was a little boy who shrank his whole body and buried his head deep in his knees. In front of him was a gaping porcelain bowl with three copper plates lying pitifully.
"Little brother, go home early." Chu Tian approached the little beggar, threw a piece of broken silver into his porcelain bowl, and took out a hundred taels of silver ticket as quickly as possible and quietly stuffed it into the other party's dark little hand.
The little beggar's eyes were shining, and he got into the alley and ran away.
Chu Tian smiled slightly and then walked into the alley and came to the door of a family.
"Mr. Wu!" He knocked on the dark and peeled door of the house with his hand.
The male owner of this family is a Luodi scholar. He runs a private school to support his family. Qinger usually lives in his house.
It has been more than half a month since I visited Qinger last time. Chu Tian doesn't come until night every time. He doesn't want others to know that Qinger has a brother who hangs out every day.
Tonight, he specially changed his clean clothes and covered his tattered shoes with the hem of his fat trousers, trying to make himself look as decent and shiny as the city people.
"Squeak--" After waiting for a long time, Wu Xiucai opened the door with an oilcloth umbrella and looked out.
"Chu Tian, if you don't come, I'll come to you!" Last time I agreed that you would send the money in two days. How many days have passed?
"I'm here to send money. Is it enough?" Chu Tian picked out the largest piece of broken silver, which weighed about five or six taels.
"You have money. You didn't steal it, did you?" Wu Xiucai looked at Chu Tian suspiciously, "The saint said: 'A gentleman does not drink the water of a stolen spring...'"
"Lessy, he is your saint, not my saint." Chu Tian threw the broken silver into Wu Xiucai's arms.
Wu Xiucai picked it up in a hurry and heard Chu Tian say, "I'm going to pick up Qing'er in a few days. Where is she?"
Wu Xiucai chased Chu Tian, secretly bit the silver with his teeth, and said in surprise, "Where are you taking her?"
"Brother!" A six- or seven-year-old girl heard the movement in the front yard and ran out of the room.
Her little face is pale, and she wears several single clothes, but she is like a cheerful bird flying through the snowy night and rushing into Chu Tian's arms.
"Little bitch, go back and do the laundry. Brother and brother, if you don't finish the work, you are not allowed to sleep at night!"
A huge woman came out of the wing and stood under the eaves with her hands on her back and shouted.
The little girl leaned against Chu Tian's arms, and her little body couldn't help trembling and looked at her brother timidly.
"Washing clothes, who's clothes to wash?" Chu Tian was stunned and asked the little girl.
"Mr. and Mrs. and two young men's clothes... I haven't finished washing them yet." The little girl answered timidly.
Chu Tian held the little girl's cold little hand and looked carefully with the help of the light in the wing room. The blood on the delicate little hands was crisscrossed one after another.
Chu Tian couldn't help but be shocked and angry. He hugged the little girl's hands in his arms and couldn't help rubbing it with his hands.
"Mr. Wu, what's going on?"
Wu Xiucai was speechless, but the woman scolded, "Do you still have the face to ask? It's agreed that ten taels of silver a month. What about the money? This little bitch eats me and wears mine. She is lazy and disobedient. I'm at a big loss!"
"Stop it, Chu Tian sent the money." Wu Xiucai looked a little embarrassed.
Chu Tian was so angry that he trembled all over. He thought that Wu Xiu was a scholar. Qinger could read and learn calligraphy here. She didn't have to spend the cold and summer with herself in the bridge hole. Unexpectedly, she had been a rough girl for Xiucai's wife.
"Brother, I want to be with you. I can ask for food for you. Don't leave Qinger behind. Qinger whispered in her ears close to Chu Tian. Tears turned around in her eyes and finally couldn't help rolling down.
"Aha, it's really two beglings!" Xiucai's wife crossed her waist and said, "If you insert a few colored hairs, you want to pretend to be a phoenix, and you don't pee and take a picture of yourself?"
"Let's go!" Chu Tian's eyes were about to spit out fire, and an impulse to tear the huge body into pieces rolled in his chest.
"I want to go. Where do you think I'm here?" The scholar's wife rushed over and reached out to grab Xiang Qinger. Let's settle the account first!"
"Get out of here!" Chu Tian was completely enraged and pulled Qinger behind him and suddenly hit Xiucai's wife's stomach.
After only a second, the Xiucai's wife gritted her teeth and screamed in her ear: "The begren is beating - let's see how I deal with you!"
She grabbed Chu Tian's neck with both hands and pressed down her nearly 200 catties of body like a mountain.
"Madam, madam, don't fight, let the neighbors see what it is?" Wu Xiucai wanted to pull but didn't dare, so he stamped his feet in a hurry.
"I just want everyone to see how cheap these two little bastards are!" Xiucai's wife and Chu Tian rolled down together.
Chu Tian was crushed on the cold and hard ground, and his face and arms were full of blood stains. In the chaos, he bit the other party's fat neck.
"Help, the little beeper is killing!" Xiucai's wife screamed like a crazy wild cat.
Chu Tian felt that the pressure on his body was slightly relieved. He heard the woman shouting and scolding one by one, and the accumulated anger finally broke out.
Who is born lowly, who is destined to be a beglow, and who judges that he should be inferior?
Chu Tian felt that there were thousands of blazing magma rolling in his chest, and there was a wolf-like voice in his mind. All his anger could not be controlled or unwilling to be controlled. The blood surged uncontrollably in the blood vessels like a volcanic eruption.
"Ah--" The scholar's wife suddenly raised her voice to the highest, piercing eardrums like a ghost howl.
Chu Tian's trance was a part of his mind. Only then did he find that he was holding a dagger in his hand, and the delicate blade like water plunged deeply into the buttocks of the scholar's wife.
At that time, blood is like a spring.
Seeing the strange face of the scholar's wife's twisted and painful face, and he was holding the murder weapon in his hand, Chu Tian couldn't help but panic.
He pushed away the Xiucai's wife who was pressing on his body, got up and waved the dagger in his hand to Wu Xiucai, and shouted, "Don't come over!"
Wu Xiucai's three souls and seven souls have almost lost more than half of them. Without any warning, the six gods stood still and couldn't speak with their lips trembling.
Chu Tian took Qing'er to the door and ran desperately along the deserted alley. In the silent and cold snowy night, they ran aimlessly, slipping down and up again until they were exhausted.
They lay down on the empty bank of the river, gasping for breath, allowing the cold snowflakes to fall on their faces.
"Is it cold?" Chu Tian dusted the snowflakes off Qinger's hair and sent her little hand to her mouth to warm up.
"I'm not afraid of the cold." Qing'er comforted her brother sensily, but her teeth kept trembling.
Huaiyang in December is the coldest time of the year, but the clothes she wears are not even enough to withstand the late autumn wind.
"Damn Wu Xiucai, there is nothing good!" Chu Angel hugged Qinger tightly and wanted to warm her with his own temperature.
"Brother, can I not go back to Mr. Wu's house again?" Qing'er suddenly asked in a low voice in his arms.
Chu Tian's heart twitched fiercely, and he began to hate himself. Qing'er suffered because of her ignorance and incompetence.
"No, my brother will always be with you, just like the moon with the mountains, and the mountains with the river..."
"I also want to accompany my brother like this--" Qinger smiled happily, raised her head and kissed Chu Tian on the cheek.
The snow is still snowing, but there is a kind of warmth quietly overflowing in the cold night.
At this moment, Chu Tian suddenly pointed to the red fire in the night sky in the distance and said, "Look, there is a fire there!"
"Where is that?" Qinger asked Chu Tian, and in her mind, her brother knew almost everything.
"It's Wu Xiucai's family." Someone suddenly answered in place of Chu Tian behind him.
"Is that you?" Chu Tian was shocked and looked back to see the old man in white robe who threw himself into the river during the day standing behind him and Qinger. Why are you sneaking and secretly following me?
The old man in white robe did not answer, as if he was staring at Qing'er's side face.
Chu Tian was involunably afraid. He stood up and quietly pressed the dagger, pretended to be fierce and asked, "Who the hell are you?"
"I'm going to take her away." The old man in white robe pointed to Qinger.
"Dream!" The weather was so bad that he pulled out the dagger and bluffed, "I won't give you Qinger. If you don't leave, I'll be rude to you!"
The old man in white robe snorted coldly and didn't see what he did. Chu Tian's body suddenly flew out of thin air.
This time, the old man in white robe was more polite to him than during the day. He did not throw Chu Tian directly into the river, but fell on the snow.
"Brother!" Qing'er shouted and ran to Chu Tian.
The old man in white robe stopped in front of Qing'er and stretched out his right hand to her and said, "I finally found you. Come with me."
Qinger did not answer, or her answer was very straightforward, and she opened her cherry mouth and bit his outstretched hand fiercely.
The old man in white robe turned his wrist slightly and grabbed her shoulder. Qing'er suddenly couldn't move.
"Old man, let go of my sister!" Chu Tian got up, roared and raised the dagger and rushed to the old man.
